RANGERS 3, SABRES 2 (OT): Captain Ryan Callahan made the 100th goal of his career a memorable one, scoring at 2:59 of overtime to lift New York over visiting Buffalo on Saturday night.

Rookie Carl Hagelin and Marian Gaborik also scored as the Rangers averted a third straight loss for the first time since dropping the first three games of the season.

Henrik Lundqvist turned aside 18 shots to win for the ninth time in his last 11 starts as Eastern Conference-leading New York maintained a seven-point lead over the Boston Bruins.

Drew Stafford scored both goals for the Sabres, who had their three-game winning streak halted.

Buffalo took a 1-0 lead when Stafford took a backhand pass from Tyler Ennis at the edge of the crease and rapped a shot past Lundqvist for a 1-0 lead at 13:29 of the first.

Hagelin pulled the Rangers even 7 1/2 minutes into the second period, slipping the puck between Ryan Miller's pads on a wraparound for his third goal in as many games against the Sabres.

Stafford put Buffalo back on front on the power play 44 seconds into the third period, just the second goal with the man advantage in 34 chances.

Gaborik knotted it five minutes later, beating Miller with a backhander for his team-high 29th goal of the season.

Saturday's matchup kicked off a five-game road trip for Buffalo, which will head to the West Coast to face Anaheim, San Jose, Vancouver and Winnipeg. ...
