Derek Stepan recorded a goal and an assist while Martin Biron made 20 saves as the New York Rangers extended their road winning streak to four games with a 3-0 triumph over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday.
Mike Rupp and Brian Boyle also scored for New York, which has won 11 of 13 overall and improved to 4-0-2 in its last six visits to Toronto.
After a scoreless first period, Rupp converted a cross-slot pass from Wojtek Wolski on a 3-on-1 rush just 3 1/2 minutes into the second for a 1-0 lead.
Boyle doubled the advantage with 3 1/2 minutes remaining in the session, beating Jonas Gustavsson with a snap shot from the top of the right faceoff circle to end a 22-game goalless drought. It was just the third tally of the season for Boyle, who recorded a career-high 21 in 2010-11.
Stepan made it 3-0 six minutes into the third. The 21-year-old received a pass above the slot, streaked past several defenders and deked to his backhand before sliding the puck around Gustavsson for his 10th goal.
Biron turned aside five shots in the first period, seven in the second and eight in the third for his 28th career shutout and second this campaign. The netminder also picked up his third assist of the season on Stepan's goal.
Gustavsson made 27 saves for the Maple Leafs, who had their five-game home winning streak snapped. Toronto has lost two consecutive contests after winning four in a row.
